LafargeHolcim is planning to increase production and export of limestone from 2.0 million tpa to 5.0 million tpa at its Nongtrai mines in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district. The limestone will be shipped to Chattak plant in Bangladesh which is 17 kms across the border through a conveyor belt. The company has received all the necessary approvals from the statutory authorities. As of December 2015, the project is undergoing public hearing for the project.
