Meghalaya government brings new electric vehicle policy

Meghalaya government has announced a new electric vehicle policy which had come into effect from April 2021.
The new policy aims to increase the share of electric vehicles in the state to 15% by the year 2025. It plans to add 20,000 electric vehicles which could result in savings of 50 lakh ltr of fuel.

It gives subsidy to new buyers:- a subsidy of ₹ 10,000 per kWh for the first 3,500 electric two-wheelers; a subsidy of ₹ 4,000 per kWh for the first 200 electric three-wheelers and 30 electric buses; a subsidy of ₹ 4,000 per kWh for the first 2,500 electric four-wheelers.

The state government also plans to establish charging network infrastructure across the state in public buildings such as shopping malls, hotels, apartment complexes, cinema halls etc.,
